The design of a memorial to Eilidh MacLeod has been unveiled.

It is hoped that the bronze sculpture, featuring a young bagpiper holding the hand of a learner player, will be established on Barra in 2020.

The life-size sculpture was made by artist, Jenna Gearing, and was deliberately not based on Eilidh's own appearance.  The sculpture is said to be a visual representation of the love, unity, resilience and diversity encompassing Eilidh's life and home.

London-based Ardonagh Community Trust donated funding to the memorial, which forms part of the work being done by the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust.

The sculpture will be placed in a memorial garden overlooking Vatersay.
