THE drink drive limit is to be reduced from midnight tonight.

Drivers will only be permitted to have 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood - a reduction of 30mg from the 80mg previously allowed.

This now means that one pint of beer or one glass of wine could tip you over the legal limit.

It can take roughly 10 hours to be alcohol-free after drinking one bottle of wine, and roughly 13 hours to be alcohol-free after drinking four pints of strong lager or ale.
