Stornoway’s ‘The Lido’ restaurant– opposite the Town Hall in Cromwell Street – is in the running for a national award after a public poll.

The Molson Coors 7th annual Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards received more nominations and votes than ever before with more than 5,000 venues taking part.

There are a whole range of categories and ‘The Lido’ – which was set up last year – is placed in the one for Newcomers.

Public voting closed at midnight on Sunday 18th March and 144 top venues have now been shortlisted.

It’s now down to the individual venues to wow the independent judges currently touring the country and all winners will be announced at the Gala Final in Glasgow’s Merchant Square on Sunday 29th of April.

The Gala Final this year will be presented by Capital FM anchor Des Clarke and by ‘Queen of the Cobbles’ Helen Flanagan. The Coronation Street star is taking on her debut presenting role.

Guests will be treated to a circus extravaganza with the UK’s first appearance of a mermaid - in a 8,000 litre tank guarded by her two mermen!

Awards CEO and founder Warren Paul is particularly excited for this year’s event as its own growth “reflects the huge growth in the industry over the last seven years.

“The Entertainment & Hospitality Awards started in 2012 when the industry was still largely suffering from the recession; we wanted to create something that the industry could feel renewed excitement for, could strive for and could take real pride in winning.

“Seven years in and our winners have gone from strength to strength, we have more venues than ever looking to compete, and have incredible support from both the industry and Scottish voting public.”

The Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards are also proud to support their 2018 charity partners Big Impact and Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, who they have supported for the last two years, raising over £75,000.

They will be fundraising throughout the night of the Gala Final and this year they have a grand prize draw with a fantastic holiday up for grabs courtesy of their official travel partner Barrhead Travel!
