Lews Castle, by Natural Retreats

Lews Castle is proving the place to be today (Friday, April 28th) as island residents and visitors enjoy the opportunity to look around the new luxury accommodation on offer by operators Natural Retreats.

And today there is also a chance to win a free stay for four in Lews Castle by taking part in the Open Day raffle, in support of the RNLI and Bethesda Nursing Home and Hospice.

Opening its doors at 10am this morning, the Castle staff have been kept busy throughout the day with a huge number of visitors, from old to young, excitedly exploring the new look Castle with a selection of the 23 bedrooms planned ready for viewing.

Rooms will remain open to the public until 9pm tonight; and from 4pm there will be displays of Highland Dancing and entertainment from local school choirs, as well as free welcomes drinks and canapes to deliver A Taste of Stornoway until 8pm. And the Lews Castle whisky bar will be open until 1am tonight for visitors and guests.

Markus Riebicke-Carrington, General Manager at Lews Castle said: “Whilst many locals may have seen the ballroom, dining room, library and morning room on the ground floor, the upper floor rooms have been under wraps.

“We welcomed our first guests at Easter but Lews Castle has been such a community project that we think it is only right that everybody gets to see the whole Castle and all the finishing touches that have helped to create such a stunning venue.

“We hope that visitors will be wowed by what they see and one lucky family of four will get the chance to stay in the Castle for free if they win the raffle in support of the RNLI and Bethesda Nursing Home and Hospice.”

The luxury rooms/suites on view on the Castle's first floor are 'Matheson', 'Shoeburn North' and 'Portrona' which can be hired on a bedroom-only option, or combined to form self-catering suites, offering range and flexibility, and decorated in a clean, fresh style, with many original features on display.
