The Cafe facility at Lewis Sports Centre will be closed for good unless it is taken over by independent operators.

The Ionad Spors Leodhais Cafe was in its end being run by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, but closed on March 31st due to financial constraints.

“The Cafe as it was was unable to break even,” said a council spokesperson, adding: “A decision was taken by the Comhairle that the cafe will not be operated by the Trading Operation again.”

The local authority is keen to attract new interest in the opportunity to run the Cafe however, as the spokesperson continued: “The council are looking for expressions of interest from other parties to operate the Cafe.

“The tender documents should be available shortly. Anyone seeking further information should contact the Procurement Department at the Council Offices in Stornoway on 01851 822640.”
