A Spanish fisherman was airlifted from his vessel off Rockall on Saturday, having suffered a suspected aneurysm.

Stornoway Coastguard received a call around 9am that the 52-year-old man had collapsed on board the Madrid-registered fishing vessel 'Eder Sands', just off the Rockall bank, around 200 miles west of Lewis.

The search and rescue helicopter was tasked and arrived on scene at 12.15pm.

The casualty was conveyed to Western Isles Hospital at 2.30pm, where his condition was described as serious but stable.
