Yesterday morning, zumba enthusiasts turned up at the Cabarfeidh Hotel to dance with Hebrides Dance and Wellbeing's Kirstie Anderson, to raise £912.70 by donating at the door, and buying raffle tickets. All money raised will go straight to the Syria Crisis Appeal.
The refugee crisis has also prompted local girl, Christine Macintosh of Heb Hostel, to organise a drop off point for donations. People from the islands have donated everything from shoes to tins of beans, and a number of volunteers have helped organise the donations, the first lot of which will be transported to Calais this weekend. Further deliveries of donations will be organised to go deeper into Europe - details to be confirmed. For more information on where to drop off donations, and what is currently needed, join the Hebrides for Humanity Facebook page.
