The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has today (Thursday January 16th) lifted a flood warning which was in place for the whole of the Western Isles.
But disruption is set to continue on ferries as winds pick up again this afternoon. Sailings on the Sound of Harris (Berneray to Leverburgh) were brought forward earlier today in the face of forecast southerly winds.
The MV Loch Seaforth has remained in Ullapool following this morning’s early crossing from Stornoway, but is expected to return on schedule at 5.30pm. The freight service is also expected to operate as normal tonight.
Other services remain on standby for disruption as a series of gusty weather fronts blow over the islands from the south, becoming westerly over the weekend.
This morning’s flight from Benbecula to Stornoway was also cancelled.
