Stornoway police have been alerted to two incidents of vehicles leaving the road in the past 24 hours.

At 8.45pm yesterday (Wednesday January 1st) a driver reported a car which had left the road at Sheshader road end in Point.

Police attended and later traced the registered keeper, confirming that there had been no injury and that all was in order.

The vehicle is still at the roadside but has been marked with police aware notices.

Police this morning (Thursday January 2nd) attended an unrelated incident where a van was found on its roof, close to the Oiseval gift shop and gallery at Brue in Lewis.

The vehicle, which was without registration plates, has been removed by police and further enquiries into the incident are under way.
