A 37-year-old man was due to appear in court today (Monday August 5th) charged with failing to give a sample for testing after a road accident.

The man was involved in a minor road accident at Marybank at 1.35am on Saturday (August 3rd). Police attended and arrested him for drink-driving, but he refused to give a sample at the police station and was charged with that and with other road traffic offences.

He was kept in custody to appear in court today, where he pled guilty to some of the charges and was bailed and given a two-year disqualification from driving.

Two fined after town centre incidents

Police cautioned and charged an 18-year-old man after a breach of the peace in Stornoway town centre, at half past midnight on Sunday (August 4th). He was issued with a fixed penalty and released later.

At 3.10am on Sunday a 29-year-old man was arrested in the town centre and charged with breach of the peace. He was issued with a fixed penalty and released when sober.
