Crowds were gathering in Stornoway from midday today (Friday August 2nd) as the first Lewis Carnival Food and Drink festival got under way, featuring a host of Island producers, from sponsors Scottish Salmon, to Stag Bakeries and a wide variety of smaller producers.

The Food festival has replaced the Continental Market as part of the Island calendar of events, and continues tomorrow on the location beside the RNLI in Cromwell Street, the old bus station site.

There were food demonstrations by Scottish National chef Gary Maclean - recently interviewed exclusively by EVENTS newspaper's award-winning journalist, Katie Macleod.
