The fourth annual Midge Biters Rally starts at Stornoway Golf Club tonight (Friday June 14th) with a full line-up of activities for bikers.
Last year over 100 bikers joined the annual ride-out on the Saturday, the furthest distance travelled probably never to be beaten as a visitor from Australia joined the run.
Ferries today will be full of bikes which return to the island each year for a bike rally quite unlike those on the mainland – stunning landscapes and wide open roads in the day complemented by great company and music in the evenings.
Tonight’s entertainment at the host venue, Stornoway Golf Club, comes from local hero Spanish, who’ll be followed onto the stage by mainland band the Dirty Lemons. Tomorrow night the Links and Rafiki’s Well are guaranteed to have everyone rocking.
The ride-out tomorrow starts from the Golf Club at 12.30pm, and spectators are encouraged to position themselves outside the Porter’s Lodge or across the road on Bayhead to get maximum viewing as the full train of bikes completes a loop before heading off.
All funds raised this year are going to the Hebridean Men’s Cancer Group – and the weather looks like it will be damp, but breezy enough to keep the midges off!
Pictures show bikers ready to set off from the Porter’s Lodge last year and gathered outside the Temple Café at Northton. (Midge Biters Rally).
