Two men have appeared in court in Stornoway this week (Monday June 3rd) following separate incidents of assault over the weekend.
A serious assault at a house in Stornoway just before 1am on Saturday (June 1st) led police to arrest and charge a 56-year-old man.
He appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court from custody on Monday and was remanded in custody.
At 11pm on Saturday, a 30-year-old man was arrested after an unprovoked assault in Stornoway town centre.
He was charged with assault with racial aggravation and was also charged with possession of cannabis.
He appeared in court from custody on Monday and was bailed under specific conditions.
A third man was arrested in the town centre just after midnight on Sunday morning and was charged with assault.
The 28-year-old was released from police custody when sober and has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Yesterday (Tuesday June 5th) a 37-year-old man was arrested on Seaforth Road, where he was found to be in breach of bail conditions set following an earlier offence. He was released on an undertaking to appear in court tomorrow (Thursday).
