Balallan footballer Rachael Johnstone is pulling on the Number One jersey for Scotland’s Women’s under-16 football team again tomorrow morning (Monday February 18th) as the team go head-to-head with Germany.

It’s the third match in an international development tournament in Portugal.

On Thursday (February 14th) Rachael kept a cool head in goal as Scotland held the Netherlands to a one-all scoreline at full-time, narrowly missing out on penalties to finally succumb 4-3.

Home country Portugal scored a convincing win over Scotland yesterday (Saturday 16th) with a result of 0-3 and tomorrow it’s Germany’s turn to face the determined Scots.

Sir E Scott school pupil Rachael’s one of the new wave of young island women making their mark in football at club and national level.
