Lochs footballer Rachael Johnstone has started 2019 in perfect form, learning that she has been selected for Scotland’s national women’s U16 training camp in February.
Goalie Rachael, 14, played in international matches for Scotland last year, standing in goal to hold Poland to a 1-1 draw at Świebodzin in the west of Poland in September, and also playing for Scotland WU16s against Wales in October.
She’s been maintaining her training around her home in Balallan and at school at Sir E Scott in Tarbert, and also plays with Lewis and Harris Women’s Football Club and Stornoway Athletic U15s development squad.
Now the Scottish FA has picked her as one of the group who will take part in intensive training at the Oriam performance centre in Edinburgh
