Caledonian MacBrayne reinstated a cancelled ferry service from Stornoway for tomorrow morning as the ferry company faced a growing backlog from days of cancelled services.

At lunchtime today (Monday) the ferry company was stating on its website that the ferry service due to leave Stornoway at 7am tomorrow had been cancelled because of the forecast of further bad weather.  In fact, as the Isle of Lewis was remaining moored in Ullapool, the service could not have been run.

However, during the early evening it announced that there would be  an additional sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway at 04:00 due to arrive in Stornoway at 06:45.

As a result of this, " the scheduled 07:00 sailing from Stornoway - Ullapool may be slightly delayed." the statement says, overlooking the fact that it had been previously announced as cancelled.

However, the new service is described as weather permitting  and will "remain on AMBER ALERT due to the weather forecast so as such may be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice."
