The last cruise vessel of the season has cancelled her planned call to Stornoway tomorrow (Tuesday September 25th) due to a forecast of strong winds and heavy rain tomorrow.
The Silversea Silver Wind was due to bring just under 300 visitors tomorrow, on her way from Ireland to the Faroes.
Her cancellation brings a good season to a disappointing finish, and leaves just the small luxury vessel Hebridean Princess with two planned calls in October, although weather could also get the better of her.
Stornoway Shipping Services helped to handle 39 cruise ship visits this season, of the 51 calls scheduled through their agency at beginning of the season.
A total of just under 11,000 passengers disembarked from all those ships which did call in, most frequent visitor the Corinthian, which called a total of 12 times in rain, wind and shine.
There are already 44 cruise ships booked for 2019.
