With Point Football Club poised to top the Lewis and Harris league this year, they’ve also had good news about a former player.

Donald Alex Morrison has signed a professional contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle after pre-season friendlies which saw him both play and score for the club.

Donald Alex moved from the island three years ago after playing at all levels for Point Football Club.

As a midfielder in the ICT U18 team he has played in recent victories over Ross County and Partick Thistle.

Last year he was also part of the league winning ICT U17 team which won 22 of their 24 matches.

He said: "I loved playing for Point FC and without their support and coaching I wouldn't have signed a professional contract. Everyone at ICT has made me welcome and I am looking forward to continue working hard and developing with the other boys".

Donald Alex is the son of Alasdair Morrison, former Labour MSP for the Western Isles constituency.

He’s one of a wave of Point players making their mark on the mainland, with John Angus Morrison, Matthew Wright and Chloe Nicolson all invited to play or train off the island.
