The first Golden Eagle Challenge for runners and cyclists will take place in the Isle of Harris on Saturday July 14th.

The challenge, which is raising funds for The Leanne Fund, consists of a 10.6 mile off road run and a 19.7 mile cycle.

Held to mark what would have been Leanne’s 30thbirthday, the challenge will take participants on an off-road run across Harris before the return leg to the finish line at Scaladale.

Drivers are asked to take extra care that morning as there will be competitors using the roads across North Harris.

Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager of The Leanne Fund said: “We are really excited to be organising The Golden Eagle Challenge and we wish all the competitors the best of luck.

“The main purpose of organising the event is to raise funds for The Fund to directly support those affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

“We are very grateful to the local community and businesses in Harris for supporting this inaugural event.”

The Leanne Fund was set up in 2009 in memory of Leanne Mitchell.

The charity funds special treats and a range of support services for young people affected by Cystic Fibrosis and their families across the region.

Since The Leanne Fund was founded it has continued to expand and develop the range of services and experiences offered in response to the needs of Cystic Fibrosis patients and their families.

The Leanne Fund relies entirely on fundraising, sponsors and charitable donations to fund their valuable work.
