With only 30 spaces, time to be quick as entries are now open for the 2018 Hebrides Triathlon - Heb Tri - taking place on Saturday, July 28th.
The Heb Tri covers a standard distance triathlon of a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run; and entries are open to individuals or teams of two.
The 2018 event will begin with registration at the Shawbost Old School Community Centre before the swim stars and finishes from the west side of Loch a’Bhaile, on North Shawbost shore.
It’s then out of the loch and onto your bike for a 40k route which turns right out of Shawbost and follows the road on up to the Callanish Stones and back to the Shawbost Old School Community Centre for bike/run transition.
The final Heb Tri stage will see competitors leave the Centre and head east on the Barvas Road, before running through the inner village roads of North and South Bragar, then re-joining the main road to return to the Community Centre Finish Line.
For competitors, wetsuits and cycle helmets are obligatory, and neoprene swim caps are also recommended.
This year’s Hebrides Triathlon will be raising funds for two chosen charities – The Leanne Fund and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
And event organisers are grateful to the Horshader Community Trust for their annual financial support since the inaugural triathlon in 2016.
