Ceilidh-goers in Harris will be treated to a champion performance next month, as the six-times world champion Highland dancer Marielle Lesperance joins the line-up for a community ceilidh.

Marielle still holds the title of World Champion, having won for the sixth time at the Cowal Gathering in August 2018. She’s based in Nova Scotia, where she teaches dance, but she’s agreed to bring her skills for the enjoyment of music and dance-lovers at a ceilidh in Tarbert on February 2nd.

The evening’s being presented by the Claire Wilson School of Dance, just picking up the pace once again after a hectic winter season, which included performances with Ballet Hebrides and at the civic commemoration of the Iolaire centenary, both in Stornoway.

Now they’ll be joined by Marielle at Tarbert Community Centre, with music from the Robert Nairn Ceilidh Band and a real good evening of music and dancing guaranteed.

There’ll be a licensed bar, bacon rolls and a full evening of entertainment from 6pm until late.

Tickets at £10 (under 16s free) are available from 'Brownies', Hotel Hebrides or Claire Wilson.
